About
From Centralia, MO. The Skies calls my name.
I’m a big advocate of using what you have on hands in terms of photography. 99% of the time most people that would be your cellphone. This would be my 3rd year in terms of self-teaching myself photography with a camera that you hold in one hands. Something that most would consider today as obsolete.
A little history of me is that I’ve always been fascinated with weather ever since a little kid. I’d be one to open up the curtain blinds during the night skies watching the flashing of lights dance across the skies. Like everyone, huge fan of the movie Twister, storm chased with my dad, and then like for some people. Life happens. Got too fascinated with boys, and life, got married, had 3 children, work a full time job M-F as well as a part time job, and just stuck down my passion on the back burner because I didn’t put myself first. 2018 rolls around and I decided to dip my pinky toe back into the chasing waters. I never followed radar back in the day on my phone or anything like that. It was just to drive up the road and see what I could capture. Seen some interesting things, and had been hooked ever since.
Photography was never easy for me, it wasn’t something I was naturally born into, and my bright idea after buying my first Nikon camera, was to go outdoors at night time during a thunderstorm and tried to come out with taking pictures. Want to know how that turned out? Nothing but either completely white or black images. It happens, I promise, even with practice, you get better. Just never give up.
Something awesome happened for me, I didn’t win, but I decided to try entering a photography contest for the Royal Meteorology Society (RMets for short) and I was a 2023 Weather of the Year Finalists for my Supercell here in Audrain County, in between Mexico and Centralia, MO or South of Paris, MO on April 4, 2023. Which happened to be 3 days after a horrible incident of losing both my grandparents to a house fire on my daughters birthday nonetheless.
Each year I give myself a goal to focus on to push and to strive to improve on my terms of photography. So the question being, is what’s holding yourself back?
